CANBERRA CBD Limited were so happy with the results of their street art party in Tocumwal Lane that they’re looking for more locations to host similar events.
The Property Council have also expressed their pleasure with the results.
“The transformation of drab and dreary Tocumwal Lane off Bunda Street could be the start of a street art revolution,” says the Property Council’s Executive Director ACT, Catherine Carter.
“Canberra’s city centre needs a makeover. Street art can be a cheap and cheerful way to lift our city centre – something a number of local property owners are already embracing.
“While Canberra CBD Limited’s recent commissioning in Tocumwal Lane is a great start, we need more local businesses to start investing in street art for their buildings.
“Street art can come in all shapes and forms – from mosaics and yarn bombs to guerilla gardens. Some of the most daring, provocative art can be found in the streets and sidewalks of the world’s cities – and street art can help us create a ‘cool capital’,” Catherine adds.
“Let’s embrace exuberant expressions of creativity that brighten up our CBD, support local arts and culture and help us to create a city like no other,” Ms Carter concluded.
Here are some examples of the efforts in Tocumwal lane.
