WE’VE waiting for quite some time to see what exactly goes up on the on the facade of the North Building facing the car park outside Canberra Museum and Gallery, though it has been known for some time that the work was a creation by livewire artist and curator Dr David Sequeira.

Now it’s obvious that work has commenced to install a painted mural commissioned by CBR Brand Canberra from creative agency Coordinate, who have been worked with the artist to realise the design over the last few months.

The design is titled “After Images” and takes the CBR Brand as its inspiration, although fans will of the artist will recognise his love of abstract art in what we can see so far.

Sequeira, long considered a mover and shaker in the local arts scene, left Canberra several months ago to take up the directorship of Latrobe Regional Gallery in Morwell, Victoria, but before that had been a staffer at the National Gallery of Australia, founder of the “Everything and Nothing” gallery, co-organiser of the queer cultural festival, “Springout”, founder/director of the Hughes Music Festival, director of Events and Business Development at Parliament House and director of M16 Artspace in Griffith. It is expected that the mural will be completed by February 9.

Here is the design:
