POLICE arrested two men yesterday after seizing about $230,000 in cash, over two kilograms of cannabis and more than 80 cannabis plants.
Detectives from the ACT’s Drug and Organised Crime Team had been running an eight-month investigation, which involved surveillance of a known drug dealer.
Yesterday, officers saw the two men meet briefly at a house in Macgregor, which they were watching as part of the investigation, and stopped both in their cars shortly after they drove away.
A 64-year-old Scullin man was arrested and charged with trafficking in cannabis after he was stopped in a car with more than two kilograms of the drug inside, and a 43-year-old Dunlop man was arrested and charged with trafficking in cannabis and receiving or possessing the proceeds of crime, after about $230,000 was found in the car he was driving.Police say a search of the Macgregor house found indications that cannabis was being grown in the house next door, where a subsequent search located more than 80 cannabis plants.
Both men are scheduled to face the ACT Magistrates Court this afternoon and police intend to oppose bail.
