CHIEF Minister Katy Gallagher has words of comfort to the legion of distraught would be royal watchers who failed to win a lucky email in the recent ballot.
“I know that there is a huge amount of interest in the Royal visit to Canberra with thousands of Canberrans wanting to see the Royal family and give them a warm Canberra welcome. During their stay in the capital there will be several opportunities for the community to gather to see Their Royal Highnesses including at Parliament House, the National Portrait Gallery and the Australian War Memorial,” Katy said.
The viewing opportunities are:
- Thursday April 24 – 1pm and 2.15pm – Parliamentary Reception in the Great Hall of Parliament House. Arrangements are in place to accommodate public visitors on the Forecourt and also in the Marble Foyer for their arrival and departure. More information from the Parliamentary website.
- Thursday April 24 – 2.25pm and 3.30pm – arrival and departure from the National Portrait Gallery. Members of the public will be accommodated in the forecourt area outside the gallery.
- Friday April 25 – 10.30am – Anzac Day National Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial.
In addition the Chief Minister has warned there will be motorcade disruptions around town from 20 April to 25 April
