SYNERGY Group claims to be the largest Canberra based accounting and consulting firm after acquiring Moore Stephens Canberra.
The acquisition by the local company will take Synergy’s professional staff numbers to more than 90 when the entire Moore Stephens team of 12 joins, expanding services in audit and assurance.
“This acquisition combines the strengths of two Canberra focussed firms, building our capability to deliver audit and assurance services to government and the not-for profit sector,” said Partner of Synergy Group Patrick Quade.
“It’s incredibly exciting that we’re continuing to grow and expand using our non-traditional business model, which emphasises a flat corporate structure and gives our consultants license to deal efficiently and directly with clients.
“We give our staff the resources and support they need to be successful, and we are excited that we can now share this with the team joining us from Moore Stephens.
“It’s further proof of Synergy’s strength as a company and Canberra’s potential that the team from Moore Stephens Canberra has opted to partner with Synergy.
“Synergy Group’s agile, disruptor ethos is yet another example of Canberra’s innovative workforce. While many of the larger accounting firms have complex corporate structures, Synergy connects clients directly with the consultants, which helps to keep work moving efficiently and overheads low.
Moore Stephens Canberra had been a member firm of the Moore Stephens accounting and consulting network which has 292 independent firms and 626 offices in 103 countries.
“We recognised the strength of Synergy’s corporate culture and professionalism and depth of expertise which are a great fit for us and our clients,” said Eric Hummer, Moore Stephens Canberra Managing Partner.
“We believe this will offer our team enhanced career opportunities and improve our service offering to the market.”
The merger between the two companies will be complete by mid-October.
