THE Orchid Society of Canberra’s annual spring show is on at the Wesley Centre, 20 National Circuit Forrest on September 26 and 27.
Spring is the best time to view many orchids in full flower, and there will be a wide variety of natives and exotics on display. Plants will also be on sale from local hobbyists and regional commercial growers, including the very popular cymbidums, cattleyas and phalaenopsis.
It’s possible to grow a surprisingly wide range of orchids in Canberra, and the Society’s book Growing Orchids in Cool Climate Australia will be on sale, containing all you need to know about keeping your orchids happy and healthy in our challenging weather conditions.
Society members will also be available to provide advice on orchid care, demonstrate re-potting, and to answer any questions you may have on this delightful plant family.
Doors will be open to the public on Saturday September (9:00am – 5:00pm) and Sunday September 27 (noon – 4:00pm). Admission is $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for concession, and children 14 years or under are free. Refreshments are available.
