SKATE in the City is ready to go in Garema Place.
The opening night kicks off with a DJ Dance Party session from 6.30pm including live music by local DJ Felixx, followed by a general skate session at 8.30pm.
“The opening night is set to be the first of many thriving winter evenings for the community,” said Jane Easthope, CEO of Canberra CBD Limited.
“We are extremely excited for the first of many skate sessions tonight, and hope to see plenty of skaters on the ice and people getting involved with other activities in the CBD.
Being the last Friday of the month The Green Shed will also be running it’s free gelato day which last month saw approximately 13,000 visitors flood into the City over the course of the day.
Skate in the City will also be supporting Red Nose Day, which coincides with the opening night. Representatives from SIDS and Kids ACT will be in the City selling red noses and running competitions with prizes of $100, $250 and $350 gift cards donated by Rebel Sport. All funds raised will go to assisting SIDS and Kids in providing services and programs.
Skate in the City will run from June 26 to July 26. There will be regular DJ dance party sessions, cultural events, dress up nights, professional ice skating performances, and kids snow box.
