MAYOR Geoff Kettle has secured a twice-daily bus service from Goulburn to Canberra with Greyhound Australia.
“Goulburn has lacked a reliable passenger transport service to Canberra for many years,” says Mr Kettle.
“Since being elected mayor, I have been working to secure such a service. These things take time. We have been working with Greyhound Australia for many months now and are delighted that they have the confidence in Goulburn to provide these additional services.”
“This service fills a void that for too long has been ignored by State Rail and on behalf of the community I thank Greyhound Australia for their proactive actions and confidence in this great region.”
Starting on June 15, on a trial basis, Greyhound will run twice-daily services from the Big Merino, with introductory prices starting from $15 return.
The Goulburn additions are a part of a larger project, which will see Greyhound deploy more frequent services between the Canberra and Sydney corridor.
Greyhound says it is also is also set to launch its airport Red Eye service, which will give commuters the ability to travel to Sydney domestic and international airport from Canberra for $15 one way.
