A 26-year-old Calwell man was arrested yesterday (Friday, 29 May 2015) for an aggravated robbery committed last year where a firearm was discharged.
About 10pm on Monday 1 December 2014, two male victims arrived at a residence in Chisolm where they were met by two offenders wearing balaclavas, one of whom was armed with a rifle.
The victims remained in their vehicle as the offenders approached them making threatening demands. One of the offenders discharged the firearm, and then ordered the men to leave their vehicle in the street and flee the scene.
Later that night the victims flagged down a police vehicle and reported the incident.
On Tuesday 2 December 2014, ACT Policing Criminal Investigations detectives executed a number of search warrants and located items including a rifle, ammunition and balaclavas.
The man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 30 May 2015) charged with aggravated robbery and firearm offences. Police will oppose bail.
