THE ABC Showcase is an annual event in the salubrious surrounds of Parliament House with the requisite number of parliamentarians, ABC personalities, management and stars.
Yes, the real stars come out for this event with those two bananas doing “nana sandwich” with all and sundry, Eddie Perfect – and, yes, he is – posing perfectly, Lee Kernaghan with hat, an “Outback ER” nurse keeping Charlie Pickering’s pulse steady as he is a tad anxious about his new show that starts in 27 days, and the hirsute Greek gardener Costa Georgiadis catching up with his local member Warren Snowden.
It is a fun night with the serious news and comment brigade mixing it with the on-air presenters of radio and television and the photo opportunities keeping everyone busy especially staffers armed with the ubiquitous iPhones.
But the little pig that helped MD Mark Scott tug the heartstrings of those who would pull the proverbial from under the ABC got due credit for its impact on the changing viewing of the littlies.
Do not, I repeat to all parents and particularly grandparents, get in the way of a small person who wants to watch Peppa Pig… now!
