BRENDAN Smyth says the Canberra Liberals have established a Legislative Assembly Committee to look at all aspects of the Clubs industry.
“Clubs in Canberra are large employers and large contributors through infrastructure like auditoriums, sporting facilities, entertainment and through their community support contributions,” Brendan said.
“Clubs in Canberra have experienced a decade of turmoil. They’ve been forced to deal with changing legislation and policy, harsher restrictions and increased taxes.
“It’s time we looked at how we can ensure the long term viability of clubs in the interests of the whole community.
“I’m pleased the Assembly has agreed to the need for an all encompassing investigation into the clubs sector. I’ll be taking a keen interest in the inquiry,” Mr Smyth concluded.
