PHOTOGRAPHERS inspired to snap an iPhone photo illustrating summer are invited to join Tuggeranong Arts Centre’s “The Long, Hot Summer” photography exhibition coming up in February.
“Anyone and everyone” can enter and the centre stresses that no costs are involved and exhibitors have the chance to sell their work.
The idea is to make the most of today’s digital world, current photography trends and the time of year. “We’re looking for photos that capture feelings of summer and are taken on a mobile phone or published via Instagram,” says curator Narelle Phillips, who also says that the summer theme can be interpreted in a conventional way, or through more abstract concepts. The sound of cicadas or the smell of rain on a hot tar road or the eucalyptus haze hovering over the Brindabella Ranges might all evoke summer.
TAC will organise professional printing on archival paper, as well as collection of works and installation of the exhibition. Selection and installation will be at the discretion of the curator.
All exhibited works can be offered for sale, with TAC retaining a 25 per cent commission on sales.
Participants may enter up to thee images in JPEG format, due to narelle.phillips@tuggeranongarts.com by COB, January 27 and inquiries to Phillips at 6293 1443.
“The Long, Hot Summer” and “Forms of Landscape,” textile and mixed media by Charlie Wells, at Tuggeranong Arts Centre, February 6 -28.
