WITNESSES are being sought to the theft of a fibreglass Deinonychus dinosaur statue from Gold Creek, Nicholls, on Tuesday night (November 11th).

Sometime between 10:30pm on the 11th of November 11th and 1:00am on the 12th of November 2014, a group of three or four offenders trespassed on National Dinosaur Museum property, stole and vandalised a fibreglass dinosaur with a retail value of approximately $1200.

The model was subsequently recovered, damaged, by Australian Federal Police (AFP) in a local park.

It is suspected that the theft may have been associated with an end-of-year school prank.

The theft took place despite the recent addition of security cameras, fencing, and sensor lights at the Museum. All dinosaur models in the garden are secured with chains.

Video footage of the incident has been obtained and has been handed over to the AFP.

Anyone with information that could assist to solve this crime is asked to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 1800 333 000, or by reporting online via https://act.crimestoppers.com.au.
