THE National Folk Festival is keen to entice in early birds with its announcement of the first artists for the 2015 Festival to be held next Easter at EPIC.

Festival director Pam Merrigan naturally says, “We’re looking forward to bringing you an A-list of folk, roots and acoustic music from around the world and Australia at next year’s festival.”
Merrigan is promising “5 magical days of intimate performances, iconic legends, surprising new music, and the vibrant sights and sounds of the Festival streetscape.”
First artists to be announced for 2015 are Scottish trad musicians Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas, said to represent the cultural renaissance currently transforming Scotland.
alt-folk singer/songwriter Mark Moldre from the central coast of NSW is on the list, while from Prince Edward Island, Canada come Gordie MacKeeman and his Rhythm Boys with old-time bluegrass.

Chloë and Jason Roweth, winners of the National Film and Sound Archive “Best Folk Recording” at the National in 2010, will be back, performing forgotten songs and Australian folk music alongside Bill Browne.
finally, contemporary UK folk duo Dark Horses combine the passion of French singer Flossie Malavialle with Keith Donnelly’s original songs in act featuring “Geordic/Gallic” humour.
