PEDAL Power ACT, ACT Cycling Federation, BMX ACT and Canberra Off Road Cyclists (CORC) have joined up to form “Capital Cycling”to promote all things cycling and provide a stronger voice for cyclists in the ACT.

Capital Cycling has kicked off with a new website and the announcement of a ‘Festival of Cycling’ in spring.

The festival will be made up of a series of cycling events throughout the spring which promise something for everyone – from the complete novice to the extreme challenge rider. Events will range from ‘come and try’ sessions for children and 35km family rides right up to 255km extreme challenges.

Local enthusiasts and organisations are also being encouraged to submit their own cycling events through the Capital Cycling web portal, where they will be promoted on a dedicated events page.

“Here in the ACT we are fortunate to have an incredible community of cyclists – 87,500 people regularly cycle at least once a week – each with a different reason for riding yet united in their love of cycling. That is why Capital Cycling has formed – to make it easy for the average cyclist to take up their next challenge and to give a stronger voice to ALL cyclists in the ACT,” John Armstrong, Executive Director of Capital Cycling and Pedal Power Executive Officer said.

“We believe in ‘cycling for all’ and the ‘Festival of Cycling’ provides an opportunity for everyone – allowing those who cycle to be a part of the wider community of cyclists through these events.”
