LABOR’s back bench, weirdly all based in the only electorate that returned a majority of Labor members (Ginninderra), have announced they’re still working hard for their electorate even as they get shuffled around in the Assembly’s committee system.

Yesterday the three Government Backbench Members for Ginninderra officially assumed new roles in relation to the various Assembly Standing Committees.

Yvette Berry will now sit in the Public Accounts and Planning, Environment and Territory and Municipal Services Standing Committees, and continue her role in the Health, Ageing, Community and Social Services as well as the Education Training and Youth Affairs Standing Committees.

Chris Bourke, who is now the Government Whip, will take up his new role in the Administration and Procedures, Justice and Community Safety and the Justice and Community Safety (Legislative Scrutiny Role) Standing Committees. This will be in addition to his current roles in the Health, Ageing, Community and Social Services and the Planning, Environment and Territory and Municipal Services Standing Committees.

Mary Porter, who now takes on the Justice and Community Safety and the Justice and Community Safety (Legislative Scrutiny Role) Standing Committees, will continue her roles in the Education, Training and Youth Affairs and the Public Accounts Standing Committees.
