KATY Gallagher has triumphantly announced dizzying levels of satisfaction for the National Arboretum with the facility of barely grown trees getting approval ratings usually seen only in third world dictatorships.

“The National Arboretum Canberra achieved an 89% satisfaction rating in Territory and Municipal Services’ annual satisfaction survey of 1000 Canberra residents,” Katy said.

“The independent survey in April 2014 by research company, Micromex, found that 61% of those surveyed had visited the Arboretum in the last 12 months. Of those, 89% were satisfied with their visit, 6% were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied and just 5% were dissatisfied.

“This is a fantastic result and testament to the hard work of staff from the Arboretum, as well as the valuable efforts of the Friends of the Arboretum.

“Since the Arboretum opened in February 2013, it has attracted over 600,000 visitors from around the world. As the survey indicates, it has also clearly been popular with locals who have embraced its vision as well as the spectacular buildings, facilities and vistas that it provides. The Pod playground has been another standout success story and is filled with the sounds of happy children every day.

“The Village Centre and Margaret Whitlam Pavilion have proven to be popular function venues, catering to over 28,800 people in total. Over 70 marriages have also been held at the Arboretum.
