CRICKET Australia has announced Canberra’s Manuka Oval is going to get a top flight day/night cricket game against South Africa on 19 November.
“This is exciting news for Canberra cricket fans, and another step in affirming Manuka Oval’s credentials as a venue for international cricket,” said Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland.
“The Centenary of Canberra ODI in February last year was a great success with a sell-out crowd, and I’m sure that November’s match against a strong South Africa will be no different.”
Manuka Oval has undergone a refurbishment and upgrades since Australia took on the West Indies in the nation’s capital on that occasion, boosting capacity to 15,000, and ACT Deputy Chief Minister Andrew Barr said the match was the result of the partnership with Cricket Australia and Cricket ACT to bring more elite cricket content to Manuka.
“It’s fantastic to see the Australian cricket team returning to Canberra after the sell-out match last year,” Andrew said.
