WHEN it comes to quirky exhibition titles, I’m tossing up between The Q Exhibition Space’s last one, “Warped and Twisted” (from Canberra Spinners and Weavers), and its current one, “Rapt in Felt”, from Canberra Region Feltmakers, running until Saturday, June 14, with a fashion parade at 11am on the last day.
WE can only speculate on what will be in “The Stars Like Sand: Australian Speculative Poetry”, a new book of verse co-edited by local poet, P.S. Cottier. Locals Lizz Murphy, Paul Hetherington and Alan Gould have work included and Canberra horror fiction novelist, Kaaron Warren, will launch the book at 7pm on June 12 in Manning Clark House, 11 Tasmania Circuit, Forrest.
CLASSICAL guitarist Bradley Kunda is celebrating the launch of his debut solo CD, “In the Woods”, with a concert at Wesley Music Centre on June 14 at 7.30pm. Supported by John Gould on viola, he’ll be joined by his talented soprano wife, Rebecca MacCallion (like him, a former Wesley Music Scholar) performing Kunda’s arrangement of Maurice Ravel’s “Five Greek Folksongs”. THAT remarkable pianist and voice teacher, Alan Hicks, is directing the University of Canberra Chorale in “Songs of Peace and War,” with soloists Jessica Harper, Christina Wilson, David Yardley and Rohan Thatcher, at Belconnen Arts Centre, 2.30pm, Saturday, June 14.
