Cheap lunches. The Golden Myanmar Cafe on Allara Street

THE Golden Myanmar Cafe is the third leg of Civic’s Burmese Curry Triangle.

On Allara Street, just off City Walk as you head up to Transit, they have pre-made plastic boxes with curries and rice sitting in a warmer and selling for $7.80.

The curries have little hand written signs telling you what they are and today I went for the pork and mango.

A short amble up Allara Street saw me taking lunch in Glebe Park on a glorious autumn day and feeling pretty good about it.

The mango wasn’t individually identifiable in this one, but it added to a glorious warm and rich flavour.

Like all great curries it seemed to melt in my mouth.

Perhaps demonstrating the richness of Burmese cuisine all three places turn out very different tasting food (although if you don’t like chilli you’re well out of luck in this scene).

Considering I got a coke with this and change from a tenner it’s hard not to recommend it.

And if it’s a nice day to sit in Glebe Park you simply won’t do better.
