Firefighters have extinguished a fire at a Farrer home on Hawkesbury Street.
The four-bedroom home was unattended at the time of the fire and discovered when the resident arrived home.
ACT Fire & Rescue has contained the fire to the living room and the roof space above.
Crews are now ventilating the area.
Three fire pumpers , the Breathing Apparatus Van, the specialist Hazardous Materials unit and a Commander are on scene.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics are also on scene and have treated a 32-year-old female patient for smoke inhalation. The patient is being taken to The Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.
A male patient aged in his 30′s was also assessed but did not require transport to hospital.

Cause of fire deemed to be from a battery operated appliance.
Fire damage to the furniture in the room and minor damage to the ceiling space. The remainder of the house sustained smoke damage.
