NESTLED in the bosom of the Jolimont Centre the Global Cafe has been quietly doling out delicious Ethiopian curries for a few years now.
Offering dine in or take away they offer a choice of three dishes from the bain marie on either Injera flatbread (think a big fluffy lemony pancake) or rice. Lentil based vegetarian options abound, but I go for the chicken and beef curries with a yellow cabbage and potato mix.
Brought up on tales of famine from the Horn of Africa it’s easy to be blinded to the culinary wonders of that part of the world. Luckily Canberra has been blessed in recent years with an assortment of restaurants and offerings at markets to educate our palates.
Global Cafe does a pretty good job, and charges just $8 for the privilege.
