THOSE Canberrans remaining in town this week will be comforted to hear that Fair Work Australia has intervened and the Transport Worker’s Union will not be conducting a garbage strike.
“We are pleased the TWU has withdrawn their notice of industrial action and the planned garbage strike will not go ahead tomorrow and Thursday,” Acting Director, ACT NOWaste, David Roberts said.
“Residents are urged to put their bins out as normal. Both garbage and recycling collections will take place to the normal schedule.”
