Couple to face court over fast food assault

A 41-year-old Narrabundah couple have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a staff member and throwing an exploding bottle at a Manuka takeaway store after their card declined. 

Around 7.45pm, three people entered the Subway store where they ordered food. The debit card used to pay for the food was declined and the trio then left the store without paying.

The manager of the Subway store then followed them and took two paper bags containing the food from a female. He was then punched twice by one of the two males.

The trio was seen leaving the area in a white Holden Commodore.

Around 9pm the female member of the trio returned to the Subway store where she was observed lighting a piece of paper from a protruding bottle, which was then thrown at the store.

The bottle exploded, however did not ignite the rest of the substance within the bottle. No one was injured.

A short time later police arrested a 41-year-old Narrabundah woman who was charged with Acts Endangering Life and a 41-year-old Narrabundah man who was charged with Common Assault.

Both were transported to the ACT Watch House and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
