THIS is the sequel that writers Christopher Markus and Steven McFeely warned in 2012 was coming down the Pike. A further sequel is promised for May 2016. Oh, my god!

Captain-America-2-The-Winter-Soldier-TrailerEven reviewers are permitted personal likes and dislikes. I avoided “CapAm 1” and if anything else had been opening on the day “CapAm: Winter Soldier” opened, I’d have shunned that as well. I don’t enjoy boring films. “Winter Soldier” did that, big time.

The good guys work for spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D, commanded by Nick (Samuel L Jackson). HYDRA is a bunch of moles inside SHIELD led by Pierce (Robert Redford) and devoted to the proposition that safety is better than freedom.

Above DC, three Helicarriers hover to pre-emptively deal with threats. On the way to the SHIELD office, Steve Rogers a.k.a Captain America (Chris Evans) and Romanoff a.k.a Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) get ambushed by the winter soldier whom Steve recognises as his former World War II comrade-in-arms Bucky.

And it’s on for young and old, violent, noisy, fatuous, predictable, flaccid tensions, American cultural colonialism with Uncle Sam’s artistic acolytes working their creatively obese butts off to inhale your dollars. Who needs it?

At all cinemas
