e-waste

CANBERRA residents and businesses will be able to dispose of their unwanted old TVs, computers and printers at a free one-day drop-off-e-waste recycling service organised by TechCollect on Saturday April 12 opposite the Fyshwick Fresh Food Market.

Organisers hope the free drop off will take the load off charities who are still suffering from the illegal dumping of old TVs at charity bins.

The service will be running at the Toll Express Depot, Mildura Street Fyshwick between 9am and 4pm.

Suitable items for disposal include:

  • All computers, laptops and tablets
  • All computer accessories and peripherals (e.g. cables, hard drives, keyboards, mice & web cameras)
  • All printers, faxes, scanners and multi-functional devices
  • All TVs

Members of the public are advised to stay in their vehicles unless otherwise directed and that it is their responsibility to delete any data from their devices. Your correspondent favours a drill bit through the hard drive platter.
