THE Arboretum is hosting a talk about growing your own vegetables at home by sustainable agriculture expert Russell Glover on Monday evening.

The 40-minute talk, ‘Bugs, biosecurity and bureaucrats: what does it all mean?’ is based on Glover’s years of experience in the farming and horticulture industries, as a sustainable agriculture facilitator at the Department of Agriculture, and his passion for native foods.

Arboretum general manager Jason Brown says the talk will include insights into bush foods, managing plant health and controlling pests and weeds.

Mr Glover also owns several native food businesses including Woolgoolga Rainforest Products and Glovers Tubes.

“Over 10 years of first-hand experience has equipped Russell with a wealth of knowledge and experience which he wants to share,” Mr Brown says.

“If you have your own garden and vegetable patch then I encourage you to come along, as you are sure to pick up some tips on enhancing the productivity and sustainability of your backyard. After the talk, the audience will also have the opportunity to ask questions.”

Tickets $10 per person. Seats are limited. Bookings to 6207 8484 or by email to arboretum@act.gov.au
