POPULAR Canberra band, Night Train, will headline the second Queanbeyan Gift Street Party in the Crawford St Lifestyle Precinct this Saturday, November 21. The Street Party will commence at 6pm in Crawford St and will run until 11pm.


AARWUN Gallery’s Annual Art Auction takes place at Federation Square this Sunday November 22. Doors open 9.00am, bidding starts 10.30am. All welcome.

THE ANU Classics Museum will host Dr Paul Burton, who will speak about the Emperor Vespasian, whose image features on the Classics Museum’s very recent acquisition, a first-century AD gold coin. AD Hope building, ANU, at 6pm on Friday November 22. All welcome.

GALLERY@BCS presents ‘Barriers: break or breakthrough,’ Photography, Sculpture, and Poetry by Geoffrey Dunn and Marina Talevski, at Belconnen Community Centre, Swanson Crt, Belconnen Mon-Fri 9am-4:30pm until Nov 27. The exhibition revolves around a centrepiece of a glass-encased clay sculpture of a human skull, which acts as both metaphor and motif of change.


STRATHNAIRN’S Christmas exhibition “Conviviality” will be themed around food, festivity and friendship. It runs at 90 Stockdill Dr Holt, 8.30 – 8pm Saturday 8.30pm – 4pm Sunday November 19-December 20. At 4pm this Sat Nov 21, they’re celebrating Xmas, the opening of “Conviviality”, the launch of ‘The Barton Estate Drawing Prize 2016, and the work over many years by Michael Sainsbury.

PHOTOACCESS’ three new shows will be opened tonight in the Manuka Arts Centre at 6pm by Martyn Jolly, Head of Photography and Media Arts at the ANU. Rebecca Worth and Ellen Hewitt will present solo, installation-based photographic exhibitions, and Exhibition Award winner Kong Kudo will present a new motorised installation of flipbook photography. The artists will participate in an In Conversation event at 5pm today.

THE Tin Shed Art Group chose ‘Moods’ as the theme for its 2015 exhibition, “Mood Swings”, at Watson Art Centre, Aspinall St, Watson, 10am-4pm Thursday to Sunday until Nov 22.


BEAVER Galleries is showing watercolours, prints and small objects by cartoonist/artist Judy Horacek, inspired by her love of old maps, travel, boats and flying. “BIRTH of the Cool” is a selection of major works by David Aspden, Sydney Ball, Michael Johnson and Dick Watkins, it surveys the decade between 1963 and 1973, a golden era of Australian art, at the ANU Drill Hall Gallery, 12 – 5pm Wednesday to Sunday until Dec 13.


CRAFT ACT: Craft + Design Centre has two exhibitions at Level 1 North Building, 180 London Circuit – “Thought – Process”, new furniture and drawings by Tom Skeehan and “discover define develop deliver,” this year’s annual Accredited Professional Members exhibition.

“WOMEN  of Canberra’, stories of 100 women from Canberra ‘Seeking Utopia’ by Fredrika Rose and ‘Light and Grain’, photography by select students from Lake Tuggeranong College are the three newest exhibitions at Tuggeranong Arts Centre, running until Saturday, December 5.

THE exhibition ‘Oh me, oh my!’ sees the gallery for contemporary metal and glass decorated and filled with rings, bracelets, pendants, objects and brooches from artists new and old, at Bilk Gallery Palmerston Lane Manuka, runs until December 24.


IN “Elements of Place” ceramic artist Avi Amesbury exhibits solo, at FORM Studio and Gallery 1/30 Aurora Ave Queanbeyan, until Nov 22.


ABSTRACTION x 3 works by Andrew Christofides Mark Galea and  Donald Laycock, at the Nancy Sever Gallery, 6 Kennedy Street Kingston runs until November 29 Wednesday–Sunday 11 am–6 pm.


A MOTHER and daughter exhibition by Pamela and Victoria Collins is at Yarralumla Gallery behind the nursery running to Nov 27.


GEORGINA Poulos is the first artist to have a solo exhibition at Margaret Hadfield’s ‘Artistic Vision’ Gallery, 1/61 Colbee Court, Phillip, with paintings on display until November 28.

“THE Distant Warriors: Ka Maumahara (We Will Remember Them) Let Us Not Be Forgotten” is the ANZAC Centenary exhibition inspired by the stories of Indigenous Australian and Maori soldiers still running at Canberra Glassworks until today, November 19.


“FASHION and fantasy: 21st century fashion dolls”, from the collection of Julie Manley, can now be seen in Canberra Museum and Gallery’s ‘Open Collections gallery’ and in the showcase by the London Circuit entrance. Until Nov 22.
