British piano works at Wesley

TOMORROW’S Wednesday Lunchtime Live Concert at Wesley sees pianist Stuart Long performing five British piano works.

Stuart Long

Long commenced his tertiary musical studies in Wellington, New Zealand, later completing a B.Mus in piano performance at the Canberra School of Music, studying with Alan Jenkins and Lillian Tan. More recently he has studied with Colin Forbes.

He has been a regular performer at Wesley Wednesday concerts, both as a soloist and in small groups, including a number of recitals with Canberra flautist Rick Lilienthal.

The works will be Frederick Delius: Three preludes for pianoforte (1923); John Ireland: Sonatina for piano (1927); Benjamin Britten: Night-piece (Notturno) (1963); Lennox Berkeley: Six preludes for piano (1945); and Frank Bridge: Three sketches for piano (1906).

Stuart Long at Lunchtime Live concert at the Wesley Music Centre, 20 National Circuit, Forrest, 12.40-1.20pm from on Wednesday, November 11. Entry $5 or donation. Refreshments $2. No bookings required. Tickets at the door.
