ABORIGINAL and Torres Strait Islander Canberrans can apply for grants of up to $5000 to go towards professional education, ACT Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs Shane Rattenbury announced this morning.
“Over $59,000 of funding can now be accessed through the second round of the grants program for individuals and groups to promote leadership and cultural activities,” Mr Rattenbury said in a statement.“This program will work towards developing a connected community where everyone has the means to contribute.
“Those who wish to gain qualifications, pursue professional development or update their text books or equipment are all welcome to apply.
Previous recipients have used the grants to pay for post-school qualifications in conservation, fitness and project management.
Applications for the current round close on April 8 this year.
