The “Rhythm & Blooms” concert series has been involved with Floriade for more than ten years and in 2015 student ensembles and two guest bands are taking to the stage in the 11-day program featuring funk-soul sensation Kylie Auldist and Queensland musicians Kristin Berardi, Sean Foran and Rafael Karlen, as well as recent ACT National Bands competition winners Kaleid.

This weekend’s highlight at 12.30pm tomorrow September 19 at Stage 88, sees newly formed trio Berardi/Foran/Karlen connect with Floriade’s 2015 theme ‘Reflection’, as they commemorate the ANZAC legacy by exploring the experiences and emotions contained in the correspondence of men and women involved in Australia’s military past.

“Rhythm & Blooms” also includes appearances from ANU student ensembles including The Hugo Lee Trio, alumni musicians Rachael Thoms and Lachlan Coventry, the ANU New Music Ensemble and the Jazz Vocal Showcase.

“ANU is delighted to partner with Floriade once again to showcase the talents of some of Australia’s most talented student musicians,” said interim Head of the ANU School of Music, Royston Gustavson, adding that  the series had provided students with the opportunity to perform to the almost 500,000 people who attend the Floriade festival each year.
