THE Australian cricket team will return to Canberra in 2016 for the Victoria Bitter One Day International (ODI) which will be played at Manuka Oval on Wednesday 20 January.
“We saw Canberra’s biggest ever season of cricket last summer and it is great the Australian cricket team will be here to dazzle audiences once again when they take on India under lights at Manuka Oval,” Liz Clarke, Director of Territory Venues said.
“The match against India is the first of four guaranteed One Day Internationals at Manuka Oval over the next four years, so Canberra audiences will be able to experience live, world-class cricket regularly,” Liz said.
“There is a huge appetite for world-class sporting events in Canberra, and the last ODI against South Africa in November attracted a crowd of over 10,000 spectators.
“Over recent years the ACT Government has invested over $16 million in Manuka Oval to ensure we are able to host international cricket here, and thanks to this investment Canberra now has one of the best boutique sporting venues in the country and is in the mix as a regular host of international games.
“I’d encourage anyone interested in attending the ODI in January to purchase tickets early for a great day out.”
Tickets to the Victoria Bitter One Day International are now on sale and can be purchased from ticketek.com.au, any Ticketek agent or by phoning 13 28 49.
