Hot on news of the Latin American Film Festival opening last night that she is now a member of the Council of Latin America Relations (pronounced ‘koala’, though sadly spelt COALAR), comes the announcement by Federal arts Minister George Brandis, that Archer has been reappointed deputy chair of the Australia Council board for a term of one year.

The livewire performer, event director and arts activist who sought to refigure Australian perceptions of Canberra during 2013, served as deputy chair of OzCo from July 1, 2013 until the June 30 this year.

According to Senator Brandis, in her role as deputy chair, Archer “demonstrated strong governance and leadership skills”. He did not mention any reactions she might have had to his decision to hive off $110 million from the Federal arts funding to the new National Programme for Excellence in the Arts.

Archer has previously chaired the Arts Advisory Board for the Adelaide College of the Arts and the Australia Council’s Community Cultural Development Board and been a trustee for the Adelaide Festival Centre and Victorian College of the Arts.

She now holds board positions as Chair of the Mayor’s Arts and Cultural Advisory Board for the City of Gold Coast and COALAR, and was recently announced as the inaugural Chair of the National Institute of Dramatic Art’s Master of Fine Arts in Cultural Leadership.
