SEVENTY Five years ago today an RAAF Hudson bomber carrying a large chunk of the Menzies Cabinet and the Australian High Command crashed into a hill overlooking Canberra airport with no survivors.

With the country deeply embroiled in the Second World War this was something of a blow to the nation and arguably the Menzies Government never recovered.

The War Memorial has a page on today’s commemoration which will include a last post in honour of General Sir Cyril Brudenell Bingham White, Chief of the General Staff.
