ACT Fire & Rescue crews are at the Fyshwick Mail Centre on Canberra Avenue, after an unknown substance was found in a package.
The building and staff have been isolated.
Firefighters in HAZMAT suits will be entering the building to get a sample of the substance.
It will then be tested and a further course of action determined.

Five people have possibly been exposed to the unknown substance but are showing no signs of ill health.
More than 100 people have been quarantined in the building.
