WHAT’s missing in the pictured scene from the coming production of Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men”?
Yes, full marks – it’s Candy’s decrepit, unnamed old sheep dog, one of the main figures in the action.
Now’s the chance for a Canberra sheep dog to tread the boards, as the Canberra Theatre has put out an SOS for an understudy for the role to be available (with owner) for the entire season from August 6-8.
As staff explain it, “the script calls for an old sheep dog, but it can be any breed of dog. It is required to be a still, old and docile best friend that can sit quietly and not behave exuberantly. It will be on stage for brief periods.
Auditions are early this coming week, email your interest to Rohan.cutler@act.gov.au
