Fullarton to make the organ dance

ORGANIST, pianist, choral conductor, composer and music educator Hugh Fullarton studied pipe organ with John O’Donnell at the University of Melbourne, winning prizes including the Herbert Davis Award and the Harold Charles Chatfield medal.

A Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, he also holds an Associate Diploma in Performance from the Royal College of Music, London.

Now Fullarton calls Canberra home and will be playing organ masterpieces by J.S. Bach, Vivaldi and Saint-Saëns at Wesley for this week’s Wednesday Lunchtime Live Concert.

Presently lecturing at the ANU’s Tertiary School of Music and in the Open School of Music , he has a special interest in the Italian, French and German organ schools of the Baroque and the Franco Germanic Romantic period, and has performed the complete major organ works of Franck, Liszt and Saint-Saëns.

His solo recitals include local and international performances, and ABC FM and 3MBS FM broadcasts. He has also appeared as organ and piano accompanist on a variety of recordings, including ABC FM Classics and Move Records labels.
