CANBERRA’S most energy efficient homes will open their doors to the public for the annual Australian Institute of Architects Solar House Day on Sunday 2 August and Sunday 9 August, to showcase some of the best climate appropriate houses.
Bus tours guided by the architects and members of the Institute’s Sustainability Committee, will visit ten projects across Canberra.
“Solar House Day tours allow people who are keen to make their own homes or rental properties greener to experience some of the territory’s most sustainable initiatives,” a spokesperson said.
“Individuals have the opportunity to get a real-life look inside houses that have been designed, built or fitted out with sustainability in mind and to learn firsthand from the architects of these great designs.
“This year’s event will be complemented by a free public lecture that is to be held at 5:30pm on Thursday 30 July at the Shine Dome, ANU. All are welcome to attend this informative lecture that will cover a variety of subjects to help achieve a solar house.
