THE University of Canberra has announced that an academic staff member has been suspended without pay following reports from students of alleged serious misconduct.
“On receiving the reports, the University immediately referred the matter to ACT Policing, who conducted a search warrant on campus yesterday (Monday, 20 July),” a spokesperson said.
“The University has also commenced its own internal investigation. A Review Committee under the University’s Enterprise Agreement has been convened as part of the process for considering matters of serious misconduct.
“A range of support services for all affected students has been put into place, including medical support and counselling at the Medical and Counselling Centre, support through Inclusion & Welfare and access to pastoral and spiritual support.
“If any current or former student of the University has concerns, we encourage them to come forward and contact the University’s Dean of Students Associate Professor Michele Fleming or contact ACT Policing on 131444. Staff members may consult the Director of Human Resources, Ms Kirsty Dwyer.”
