EIGHT World War Two medals stolen from the home of a 92-year-old veteran on Tuesday afternoon have been found and returned to their owner.

The eight medals that were stolen include the National Medal, Australian Service Medal (1939 – 1945), War Medal (1939 – 1945), Pacific Star, Defence Medal and the 1939-1945 Star.
The medals were stolen during a burglary at the war veteran’s Mawson home between 3.50pm and 5.50pm on Tuesday.
Acting Officer-in-Charge of Woden Station, Sergeant Louise Denley, said that an appeal to public for the medals to be returned had clearly paid off.
“Our message to the offender was that the medals did not have any monetary value but were of sentimental significance to their owner,” Sergeant Denley said. “We’d like to thank the member of the public who found the medals and facilitated their safe return to their rightful owner.”
Investigations are continuing.
