CANBERRA’S Tempo Theatre is about to embark on a production of the urban comedy, “Daylight Saving,” by the late Nick Enright, but there’s a problem — they need a 21-year-old actor who can play tennis.
Director of the production, Michael Weston, told “CityNews” today that the play would run at Belconnen Theatre in late May, but that because of the exceptional growth in theatre in the ACT, it was proving hard to cast the male characters. Weston said he also needed another male actor of somewhere between 30 and 40.The play has been tightly written, with just six characters. Its publisher, Currency Press, describes the plot thus: “While Tom is away, an old boyfriend pays a surprise visit to his wife at home. Her plans for a candle-lit reunion go awry when her highly-stressed neighbour and her mother drop in.”
It sounds like the perfect play for Canberra.
