RICKY Stuart and Disability Minister Joy Burch have agreed to partner to build a second respite centre specifically for teenagers with autism and other disabilities.

The government will contribute $1.4 million to the project with the remainder from the Ricky Stuart Foundation in cash and kind. Planning will commence immediately with an aim to complete the project in 2016.

“We are already well underway to deliver a fabulous new respite centre in partnership with the ACT Government; this second budget allocation will give us momentum to provide even more special facilities”, Stuart said.

The foundation, in partnership with the ACT Government and Marymead, is already constructing a world-class respite centre for children aged 6 to 12 who have autism or other disabilities. This centre, to be named “Ricky Stuart House”, is located in Chifley.
