AN EXULTANT email has arrived from Canberra film maker Sotiris Dounoukos telling ‘CityNews” that his 19-minute drama “Un Seul Corps” (A Single body) has awarded Best Short Film at Australia’s longest-standing and publicly owned short film festival – St Kilda Film Festival.
The film, made in France, also won best short at the Toronto Film Festival last year and Dounoukos was the winner of a Canberra Critics’ Circle Award in 2014.He also gets a $10,000 cash prize courtesy of the City of Port Phillip and qualifies for consideration in the OSCARS® Short Film category. It’s that last bit, Dounoukos’ message reveals, that really excites him.
When last we reported on Dounoukos, he was deep in film his first feature film the movie version of Helen Garner’s “Joe Cinque’s Consolation”, set firmly in Canberra.
