Arts crowdfunding campaign in Belco is on the way

BELCONNEN Arts Centre won $8,000 in ‘funding through Creative Partnerships Australia’s Plus1 program, but here’s the rub — it has to raise another $8,000, since Plus1 requires recipient arts organisations to match funding.

The centre is the first successful applicant to this program from the ACT, so it’s launched a Pozible crowdfunding campaign that has so far reached 65 percent of its fundraising goal.

To receive the matched funding, BAC needs to successfully generate $8,000 in donations by May 29. All donations above $2 are tax deductible and the centre says it presents a rare opportunity for lovers of the arts to make a difference.

Unusually, the funds will go to “create ongoing funding opportunities for BAC. Your initial donation now will plant the seed for long term success for Belconnen Arts Centre fundraising goals” with every cent going towards this fundraising program.

Everyone who contributes, whatever the amount, will be invited to a celebration party here at Belconnen Arts Centre from 5:30pm on June 11, with a special preview of two exhibitions, live music and some “special creative surprises”.
