THE ACT Rural Fire Service will, weather permitting, conduct a hazard reduction burn at McKibbin Pl off Nunan Cres, Oxley Hill tomorrow Saturday May9.
Two light units, three medium tankers, two heavy tankers and 20 personnel will conduct the burn of approximately 6.8 hectares.
The burn is expected to commence from 11am until 5pm and some flames and smoke may be visible the following day.
Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
