ICON Water crews will be conducting pressure and flow testing of the water network within Braddon, Ainslie, City, Reid and Campbell on Monday May 11 through to Wednesday May 13 which may lead to some temporary water discolouration in the area.
The essential works will allow Icon Water to better understand the condition of the water mains servicing these areas, many of which were installed in the 1920’s.
The change in colour normally occurs when the natural sediment is disturbed within the pipes, causing the water to take on a brown or reddish colour usually due to an increase in flow.
It is not recommended that you drink the water if it appears, tastes or smells objectionable. Customers experiencing discoloured water are advised not to use washing machines and dishwashers as it may stain clothing or clog filters.
Icon Water advises that any discolouration should clear with normal use. If you continue to experience discoloured water after Wednesday May 13, let them know on 6248 3111 or talktous@iconwater.com.au
