LOCAL indie songster, Tom Woodward, came back from an early-2015 trip to New York with a music video and the result on YouTube is a clip he calls “a comical snippet of a psychedelic social happening”.
The single “Flying On The 88” from his “Beautiful Shadows” LP, features avant-garde performer Borts Minorts and the impresario Darcey Leonard from the House of Screwball.
Woodward’s Australian touring buddy, Andrew Dalziell, (better known as goth-pop artist Nausea) they’re saying, mysteriously, “holds court as Woodward’s elusive muse”.
The clip was filmed and directed by New York filmmaker John Sears, who Woodward met one drunken night in Williamsburg. After waking with a message from John saying he loved the concept and wanted to make the clip, Woodward had to pretend he could remember what the concept was, what clip John was talking about and who this John guy even was. The resulting video plays like the absurd drunken fugue that spawned it.
“Flying on the 88” is the debut single from “Beautiful Shadows”
