A CHORUS of Women are almost ready with their mighty choral work, “A Passion for Peace,” commissioned from local composer Glenda Cloughley in memory of the 1300 women who attended the 1915 International Congress of Women in the same week as the Gallipoli landing. Conducted by Johanna McBride, the dramatic oratorio is being staged for the Festival for Peace, at Albert Hall, April 28-May 2 at Albert Hall. Tickets at the door.
CLASSICAL guitarist Stephanie Jones, who was named Young Virtuoso of the Year in the 2014 Fine Music Network National Competition, will perform work by composers Isaac Albéniz, Fernando Sor and Luis de Nárvaez in the Wesley’s Lunchtime Live series, 12.40pm-1.20pm, on Wednesday, April 29. Entry $5 minimum, concession $2, tickets at the door.
“IN the Slow Lane” sounds like a leisurely title for an exhibition, but you can bet Maxine Price and Kate Hine’s exhibition of ceramic figurative sculptures and work on paper will be anything but that. At Form Studio and Gallery, 1/30 Aurora Avenue, Queanbeyan, until May 10.
