ACT Parks and Conservation Service is advising the public that, weather permitting, a 260 hectare hazard reduction burn will be conducted tomorrow (Wednesday 25 March 2015) at Lone Pine to the west of the Boboyan Road on the Luton fire trail in Namadgi National Park. The burn, which could take up to one to two days, will reduce fire fuel loads.
A 380 hectare hazard reduction burn will continue along the Hardy Range to the east of the Cotter River, Namadgi National Park, weather permitting.
The burns are two of several burns conducted over coming weeks which will collectively total over 7000 hectares. For the duration of the burns significant amounts of smoke is expected in the sky across the ACT.
