JOY Burch says consultation is now open on the ACT Arts Policy Framework Review.

“The ACT is home to innovative artists and arts organisations and is an important part of the cultural richness of Australia,” Joy said.

“The current ACT Arts Policy Framework was released in 2012 and reflects the ACT Government’s continuing commitment to support and strengthen the ACT arts sector and through it the wider community.

“The ACT Arts Policy Framework is being refreshed to ensure that it continues to be a relevant and engaged policy, which is meaningful to the local arts community.

“It is important that the Framework reflects the ACT Government’s continuing commitment to the arts by providing a structure within which ACT Government funded arts activity takes place, while guiding the implementation and review of existing policy and programs.

“I appointed a reference group in January of this year to oversee the review process and one of their key roles is to guide the consultation and provide input and advice on the Framework.

“We’re hoping to receive valuable insight in relation to arts priorities, and I encourage all those interested in the ACT arts sector to participate in the consultation.”

The community consultation will consist of an online survey, community forum and call for written submissions. The consultation will close on 27 April 2015. The revised ACT Arts Policy Framework is expected to be released in June 2015.

You can complete the survey and keep up to date with the consultation by visiting the artsACT website at www.arts.act.gov.au.
